How to get tickets ?

There is a chance for everybody to get tickets

This statement may seem provocative to you, but it is correct. However, it is a question of time and effort.

The demand of approximately 200.000 requests totally outstrips the available 60.000 tickets and the waiting period is about 2-5 years for first-timers. Nevertheless, please, do not be discouraged.

Ticket office

Write to the "Kartenbüro der Bayreuther Festspiele, Postfach 100262, D-95402 Bayreuth" and ask for the performance schedule as well as the order form. These will be send to you in September.

Order the tickets you desire and do not forget to indicate alternate dates. Watch for this date: "Beginn des Kartenvorverkaufs" (=beginning of the ticket sale). Your order must be received by the ticket office on this day at the latest.

Around January/February of the following year you will usually receive a positive or a negative answer to your request. The ticket confirmations are mailed first.
NEW: On the 'Order form 2012' you find following term; If no invoice has been received by 31st March 2012, then the application has been unsuccessful. No furhter communication will be sent.

The following September you will automatically receive the order form. You should continue to order in any case! If you miss one you will be deleted from the computer and the whole process starts again without credit for former waiting period.

During the festival season, the ticket office is open daily from 10-12 a.m. and in the afternoon 1 1/2 hours before the beginning of the performance.

Other ways

We also would like to mention the "Gesellschaft der Freunde Bayreuth e.V." (= the society of the friends of Bayreuth). This organization is not to be confused with the Wagner Society, which is found all over the world. The society of the friends of Bayreuth donates money to the Festival without taking any creative influence. However, membership + donation do not automatically mean that you are allocated tickets. But it might help.
